Letter to Members & Friends of Trinity, December 2018

Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck:

As we approach the new church year, with the beginning of Advent, we would like to thank each of you for your contribution to the life of our congregational family.  Thank you for your dedication, hard work and commitment to the ministry of our Lord in this place.

Countless people give to ‘Trinity’ of their time, talents and treasures on a regular basis.  In order for our ministry to be effective we need each of you.  If you would like to serve or contribute to our life together in a way that you are not currently serving please talk with Pastor Debra, a member of our church council, or just call the church office (204) 735-2503.  We would love to hear from you.

During the past 51 years members have worked hard to ensure that there would be a place for their descendants to come and worship.  God has blessed the faithful stewardship efforts of our Forefathers and Foremothers.  Their disciplined approach to stewardship is exemplary.

First, they were thankful. Thanksgiving is at the heart of the Christian life. It is the heart of our worship. The word Eucharist is a Greek word that means thanksgiving. It’s the way we are called to worship and the way we are called to live.

Second, they were not afraid of letting go.  They repeatedly let go of those things that draw us away from God.  They understood who the real owner of all our resources are, our Creator God.  The church of Christ, first and fore most is God’s church.

Finally, they were generous.   Our congregation is known for the way in which we care for one another and are concerned about our community.

The Scriptures tell us that “where your treasure is, there will your heart be.”  It’s true. Our use of money is a wonderful indicator of our spiritual health.  Our cheque books is theological documents.  And those who give generously tend to exhibit signs of being spiritually healthy.
As members of Trinity we thank you and encourage you to continue to promote generosity in the giving of your time, talent and treasures.  As you consider your gifts know that God blesses all of our efforts.

Yours in Christ,

The Stewardship Committee
